On 14 August 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) hosted a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Thailand Chapter to foster and advance the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) industry in the region. RMUTL is the first among the nine Rajamangala Universities of Technology to initiate such collaboration.
The signing ceremony took place at Rajarath Meeting Room, Business Administration Building 3, Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, RMUTL, Huay Kaew Road, Chiang Mai. On behalf of RMUTL, Asst. Prof. Pisit Wimonthanisit, Vice President for Planning, Policy, and Strategy, signed the MOU, representing Assoc. Prof. Wichet Thipprasert, Acting President of RMUTL. Representing SITE Thailand Chapter, Ms. Panporn Wongchanpen, President of the association, joined in the signing.
This partnership focuses on developing curricula and training programs for the MICE industry in line with international standards, encompassing Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, and Exhibitions. The programs will adopt best practices recognized by leading global MICE organizations such as ICCA, SITE, UFI, and the ISO 20121 Event Sustainability Management System. Training will equip learners with professional skills in MICE planning and management, integrating technology and innovation to create memorable participant experiences, while prioritizing safety and sustainability.
Graduates of the program will receive certifications recognized nationally and internationally, enhancing their competitiveness and career opportunities in the growing MICE labor market. Students and faculty members will benefit from hands-on learning, simulated real-world scenarios, and industry networking opportunities, while regional businesses will gain access to skilled professionals who meet global standards.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
Goal 4: Quality Education
Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
The event was witnessed by RMUTL executives, faculty members, and students from the Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, as well as SITE Thailand Chapter executives and representatives from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
